Cellphone Spyware: what is it and how it works?

Cellphone spyware is a type of malware that can be installed on any smartphone without the user's knowledge. It can intercept phone calls, messages, and other data from the phone without the owner's consent. This type of spyware is used for many purposes including corporate espionage and monitoring employee communications.

There are many types of cellphone spyware that are used by different groups for various purposes. The most common type of spyware is called Pegasus which was created by NSO Group. It has been used in countries like Mexico to monitor journalists and human rights activists. Cellphone spyware can be installed on a phone by sim swapping. SIM swapping is the process of switching phones and inserting a prepaid or stolen SIM card into the other phone.

The new SIM card will allow thieves to gain access to the information stored on an individual's device without their knowledge. Many people believe that cellphone spyware only affects users in countries. They believe that people in countries like Mexico and Saudi Arabia are more likely to be targeted by cell phone spyware because of the large number of journalists and human rights activists who have been monitored.

The United Nations set up a commission dedicated to preventing the use of technology against political groups. At the moment, it is not known how widespread this type of spyware is.
